3 Mental Advantages to Make Money Online

Starting a website can be a mental drain, trust me, I know. You hear all of these success stories all around you and read tons of articles which show you the exact step by step tips that successful internet marketers have used to make money online and become excited about the endless possibilities. Your excitement carries for the first couple weeks as you constantly add posts to your blog and promote your site. However, just as when you start an exercise routine, there is a hill you must climb over. For many, that hill reaches its peak a few months after starting the blog.

That hill can be a difficult route to overcome and many decide to just turn around and coast back down the hill. Many bloggers are not realistic about their goals and expect to make their first big paycheck in their first month. When that first month produces little to no money, bloggers are quick to brand their efforts useless and pointless. You know that old saying, “the first million is always the hardest to get?” Well in terms of creating your own site to make money online, 100 unique hits a day is the hardest to get. After your HostGator awstats shows 100 unique hits a day on average, your site tends to go on cruise control and the money starts to come in.
Until you reach that 100 unique hit, you’ve got to find ways to give yourself mental advantages so that you don’t give up on a site that could easily mature in a few months into the premiere site in its niche. In order to help you gain mental advantages to make money online, I’ve put together a few pointers I’ve used with great success to help you overcome the mental strain a new blog and its blogger faces.
- 100 posts/articles is the magic number: Many eBooks and people will tell you that after you reach 30 posts/articles, you will then see a jump in traffic from search engines and greater ad revenue. My personal experience has been that the number is more like 100 posts. In all of my sites, I’ve received far greater and more livable money once I’ve reached 100 posts on the site. So remember, until you’ve reached 100 posts on your site you probably won’t make much money online.
- Join Chikita: While AdSense will probably generate you more money once your site reaches the 100 unique hits a day mark, until then you won’t see much of a profit. Discussions I’ve had with other site owners has led to me to suppose that you need around 1,000 impressions a day to make a decent amount (your earnings will vary depending on the keyword the Ad is focused on). Until then, use Chikita along with Google Ad Sense. Chikita targets ads based on the exact search phrase a visitor typed into a search engine. Thus, you get more clicks on the ads, which makes you more money. When it comes to making money online, incremental gains in money can go a long way as a mental advantage.
- Don’t be a stalker: By that I mean, don’t check your Google Ad Sense, Chikita, eBay Partner Network, and other affiliate program earnings every day. Wait to check it every two weeks. If you can’t wait every two weeks, try to check it only once a week. If you hold off on how often you check your earnings, you will be more surprised by the amount you’ve made when you do check. That surprise can provide a mental boosting encouraging you to further add content and promote your site in hopes of beating that money made on your next cycle.
As I said, starting a website is a test of your mental toughness. The hill you have to climb in order to make money online is a steep one full of rough terrain. But trust me, once you get over that peak, you’ve never seen a more beautiful terrain.

In order to make money online today, we’d have to focus on Google Ad Sense earnings. I’ve talked about AdSense in a prior post on Google Ad Sense and how it can make you a lot of money, providing you have traffic to your site. In order to get traffic, you need to focus on keywords that are highly searched for and have optimal competition for your site. How well your site competes usually depends on the age of your site, so a new site will tend to not rank high on keywords until it has established some authority.

So if you need to establish authority to rank high in search engine results, which takes time, how do you make money online today with Google Ad Sense on your website?
To get a good idea of an effective method for accomplishing this, look at my N1Way review. There are two reasons I made and continue to make money online today from this keyword. The first being that Micro Niche Finder and the Google Keyword Tool only returns information from the previous month, not up to the minute information. Being that N1Way was brand new when I wrote my review on it, I knew there would be little information regarding searches for it. Secondly, I recognized that N1Way was a new product, coming from a reliable place (The guys over at BANS), and was on the up and up. So I knew that since BANS already has a solid and huge following, once N1Way was announced, many people would search about it and it would be a matter of time before those outside of BANS would catch on to it. I now had a keyword that had very little competition and once it became popular, I would be an established authority on the keyword.
You need to accomplish something similar to this in order to make money online today and continue to make it. Do your due diligence to research new products or services in what ever niche you’re focused on. Find a product that is new and that you believe will become popular in the future. Check to make sure it’s search engine rankings haven’t been compromised already by others who have written on the subject and get to writing.
If you were to write about, say “2009 Suzuki Hayabusa”, you’ll more then likely be facing a lot of competition because this bike has been out for a while. However, if you’re able to get information about the 2010 Suzuki Hayabusa and write a review about it, anyone searching for the 2010 Suzuki Hayabusa will get your post since so few of people have written about it, seeking further information, they’ll click an AdSense ad, enabling you to make money online today. Once the 2010 Hayabusa comes out, you’ll have a year older post then anyone else, cha-ching, you’ve just made money as an authoritative figure on that keyword.
Another way would be to write about anything you see or read about that is new news. Got a website about your local town? Did you just hear that a large fair is planning to come to your town? Write about it, word about the fair will spread and people will search for it, and guess who will be on the first page of the search results? YOU!
Now there are other ways to make money online today; freelancing from eLance, selling your own items on eBay, along with many other ways. However, to make money online today, you have to do your research and find keywords that are on the come up and establish yourself early. Look at Red Bull, they were the first to market energy drinks effectively, now even though there are so many different energy drinks available, they still stand as the brand leader of the industry.

Make Me Money with a Google Ad Sense additional revenue stream:
In case you’ve never heard of it before, Google Ad Sense is probably the premiere advertisement generating revenue stream on the internet. Any time you see on a website, such as Quick Cash School, the term “Ads by Google”, that is an Ad Sense advertisement. This is one of my main stream ways of generating revenue, outside of the eBay affiliate program.
You know when you get these websites telling you that you can “Make Thousands at home from Google”? Well, most of the time, they are going to try and sell you an eBook or program of some sort that will teach you how to implement Google Ad Sense into your page.
How does Google Ad Sense work?
It is pretty simple, you’re basically becoming a marketer for various sites. The better you perform, the more they’ll pay you.
Google has something called AdWords, which is a paid system where by people can advertise on their servers. They basically “bid” on various keywords that they’d like to focus their advertisements on; their target market. Depending on the demand of the keyword, it directly reflects the price (rule of supply and demand). How does Google Ad Sense make me money?
It all depends on how much money is bid on the keyword. From that amount, Google sets up a commission that they’re willing to give you for every click your page generates. Pretty cool right? A page viewer just has to click on an advertisement from Google Ad Sense on your page and viola, you get paid. That doesn’t mean however, that you can click on the links yourself or ask people to click on your advertisements, that is a huge no-no that could get you banned.

What I love about implementing AdSense into an eBay affiliate page is that if a viewer comes to my page and isn’t interested in either the products I offer or bidding on eBay, the advertisement offered on my page may entice the mind of the viewer and get them to click on the ad. The click generates me revenue regardless of whether the viewer purchases anything or not. In the future, we’ll discuss methods of making money from commissions on products other then those offered on eBay, purchased through your site.
You now have added two forms of revenue to your website. However, there are many other ways that we will go over to generate more money without seeming to overly promote it. The key is to subtly entice the viewer into the either purchasing mindset or the seek further information mindset. The reason I chose to teach you about the eBay affiliate program and Google Ad Sense first is because they’re the two best methods I use to make me money.
